WWDC is Apple's big conference where they talk about everything that is Apple and announce major technology releases they've been diligently working on since the prior year's event. Notably, this year brought news of iOS 11, macOS High Sierra, new MacBook Pros, iPads, and HomePod (Apple's answer to the Amazon Echo). Such exciting news instills a certain energy, one that would make a person want to dance and take a lot of selfies. So, we decided to satisfy this need by hosting our very own Selfie Soiree! (Just kidding. We hold the event so we can connect iOS developers in a fun setting to chat about tech and mobile development!)

Developers began pouring in when doors opened at 8:00pm, phone in hand, ready to not only network with the best and brightest Apple developers from all over the world, but to also take some awesome, creative selfies with the help of selfie sticks, of course. The event kicked off with our very own Chris Maddern welcoming our guests, giving a short introduction on what Button is, and chatting about the event and what makes it so great. Guests were elated to find out that every photo they tweeted with the hashtag #ButtonSelfieSoiree gets posted to the Tweet Wall, a projected display of all the tweets from the party, which updates in realtime, and that we were giving away an Apple TV for the best selfie each hour!

And so began the onrush of selfies...

Midway through the event, our friends over at McDonald's surprised the party with copious amounts of delicious french fries for our selfie-taking attendees. The rest of the night was filled with dancing (yes, there were a couple of dance-offs), lively music by San Francisco's very own Disco Queen, DJ Kelly, and some delightful signature cocktails, 'I am the El Captain Now' and 'Git Stash Pops'.

At the end of the night, we had over 600 developers come out to the event with over 1 million views from all tweets with the hashtag #ButtonSelfieSoiree! You can see all the selfies from the event here on Twitter and you can see all the event photos here.
